Carrica
CARRICA RANCH is located in western New Mexico only 100 miles west of Albuquerque, NM or 30 miles south of Grants, NM.

Carrica is an authentic working ranch in a picturesque setting right out of the American West. The Carrica headquarters is located 10 miles south of NM highway 53 on Cibola Co. road 42 along the continental divide. County road 42 is designated a scenic by-way within the El Malpais National Conservation Area by the US Bureau of Land Management (BLM).

The ranch covers a total of 68 sections (approximately 40,000 acres BLM and 800 acres deeded). Portions of the BLM designated West Malpais Wilderness Area as well as the Chain of Craters Wilderness Study Area overlap the Carrica.Carrica

The ranch ranges from 7000 to over 8000 feet in elevation. Terrain is rolling with numerous grassy meadows that are surrounded by ridges of Pinon and Juniper trees. Ponderosa Pines thrive on the numerous volcanic cinder cone "Cerros" that are found at the highest elevations on the ranch.

Three modern log cabins, a large metal barn, pump house, and pipe corrals are located on deeded land at headquarters.

The attached public land (BLM) grazing permit known as the Los Cerros Grazing Allotment is for 1296 yearlings for a 6.5 month season. In recent years the ranch has comfortably supported 1000 to 1200 yearling cattle for six months. The grazing period is from mid April through early October. Native grasses on the Carrica have produced livestock gains of about 1.5 pounds per day in the past. The ranch receives 14 -15 inches precipitation on average years.

Four wells with electricity and submersible pumps distribute water to over 50 livestock water troughs through two underground pipeline systems that traverse over twenty six miles. The watering system is in very good condition and functions as designed to distribute both livestock and wildlife grazing over the entire ranch. There are over 80 miles of road to be able to check the water, see the cattle and the view the wildlife. There is also over 70 miles of fence to control the movement of cattle and wildlife.Carrica

Other improvements include everything necessary (ATV 4-wheeler, powder river squeeze chute, backhoe, generator / welder trailer, etc.) to make this a "sure nuf - get r done" cowboy outfit. Buy it and you'll be operational. A real cowboy deal!

All kinds of wildlife thrive on the ranch. Big game includes elk, deer, and antelope. Elk herds are the most common big game and can be seen regularly. Two landowner elk permits have been assigned on the Carrica in recent years.

This beautiful western New Mexico ranch is priced sensibly in today's market. At $1,400,000. (a turn key price) this is one of very few ranches that will keep its dollars together. The exceptional depreciation value is readily apparent in the numerous and varied improvements and equipment that come with this ranch.
